The history of the Chevy Impala dates back to 1958. The great revival of the nameplate, however, took place in 2000, introducing a front-wheel drive four-door sedan, equipped with either a 3.8L or 3.6L V6 engine. In 2004, a supercharged 3.8L V6 producing 240 hp joined the model range. In 2006, the Impala underwent major redesign that included a new 3.5 liter V6 engine. In the late 2000s, the Impala gained substantial success in racing, winning the NASCAR Manufacturers’ Championship during six seasons from 2007 till 2012. In 2014, the Chevy Impala received a more sophisticated appearance and intelligent powerplant utilizing an electrically controlled hybrid system.
